Counseling for Professionals

The Dissociation Support Center's counseling services are designed for professionals working in youth and family services, youth facilities, schools and school social work, youth welfare offices, juvenile courts and juvenile court support, and other institutions.

Contact and advice is provided by telephone, e-mail, videoconference and in person. Depending on the region from which callers come, staff will refer them to the appropriate regional prevention and dissociation support structures when possible. If no appropriate services are available locally, the Dissociation Assistance Center will work with counselors to develop a case-specific approach. It is based on an evaluated intervention plan with five steps: (1) problem identification, (2) analysis and assessment, (3) resource clarification and networking, (4) action planning with target indicators, and (5) action implementation and self-evaluation.

As part of the counseling process, various services provided by the dissociation support center may be utilized as needed: On-site consultation, collaboration with professional colleagues, advanced training, peer case consultation, online intervision groups, and case-based coaching. Dissociation Support Center staff are qualified counselors and work anonymously and confidentially. As part of the counseling process, direct interventions with young people - individual outreach counseling, individual and group training - may also be advisable.
